well it's about bloody time. Fred-sensei finally got to the part of the chapter where the separate story cells converge and mass mayhem commences. Fanboys, NPCs, Largo, m4gic grrls, TPCD, zombies, Ed and Dom (not to mention a conspicuously absent l33t ninj4 and pink-haired android)—it's sort of like watching the Battle of Five Armies :-)
And I have a new theory for why we should all love Dom more than we do: Dom is the fundamental agent of these chaotic encounters. Skeptical? Well, don't let that crudely drawn stick figure fool you. Let us review the facts:
- Dom was essential to Largo fighting the first zombie horde (which in turn was what sparked Erica's interest in t3h l33t 1).
- Ed's brain is permanently hard-linked to his trigger finger, so Dom seems to have little trouble manipulating him when he wants to.
- Dom brought Asmodeus with him on the boat to Tokyo (there is no evidence that Dom did this intentionally, though his the general evilness must have been some factor in Asmodeus' arrival, and with him, the 3vi1 k77y).
- Dom leaked info about Erica which resulted in the first fan insurgents into Megagamers. Dom staged a fan-mob at Megagamers. Dom staged a second mob at MegaGamers, which he personally attended.
- Dom also has been putting more and more pressure on both Erica and Kimiko to join the Dark Side, which in turn has been forcing Largo and Piro to get out there and act all heroically.
So, if you are looking for the real mastermind behind this grand chess game, the one who keeps these variant stories crashing and colliding with each other, I think we need to look for the man cleverly disguised as a stick-figure with glasses...

Insert necessary indignant comment regarding comparisons between Megatokyo and Middle Earth. Don't. Go. There. ;-)
What occurred to me when reading your comment (after blocking out your blasphemy) is that there are two characters that are treated as a force of nature. Ed and Miho (at least until recently) both act as if they are always acting on impulse or natural instinct. Ed destroys because that is his purpose in life. He's a human hurricane, not caring about consequences or what happens to him. Similarly, Miho early on did what she did almost at an instinctive level. Her growth is that she is now considering moral dilemmas. By considering her free will, her nature is changing.
I think I would have to disagree on Miho. Yes, I will grant that she does seem to have some basically predator instincts, and it is not uncommon to see her as an "emotion vampire". Nonetheless, she has had moral dilemmas/crisis before. Ping forced her to profess her loyalty as a friend...a move which Miho only reluctantly succumbed to. In the Cave of Evil, she lost her cool when Largo dismissed her (703), and then had a complete breakdown when Piro upbraided her behavior (704). Then (705) Miho used Ping as an emotional (and physical) prop. She also has shown an interest in Yuki-Magic-Girl, for what looks to be altruistic reasons (not that I believe for a second that they are, but they appear to be). But she has shown some vague hopes that Yuki will turn out to be "good" instead of the "evil" that Miho ended up as. And there is still a mysterious time in Miho's past when she still had long hair and perhaps not evil, but then something terrible happened...
I think that Miho has long been a subtly complicated character.
